Matthews took after his brother and started practicing Jiu Jitsu at the age of 14, and made his professional debut at Total Combat in 2007. He went on winning 4 consecutive fights via TKO. After fighting in StrikeForce in 2011, he chose to sign with Bellator and has become of their top middle weight competitors. He has 6 KO’s out of 8 wins which proves that he has tremendous power in his striking. On August 28 Matthews faced Emiliano Sordi at Bellator 141 and won the fight via TKO earning himself 2 consecutive wins. There is no doubt that he is eager to use this momentum to fight on New Year’s Eve, and impress fans throughout the world.
