—How do you feel being the representative fighter for Bellator

I’m very happy to be able to enter this tournament. Especially that I’m fighting in Japan again. Representing Bellator, representing the States, which can always put pressure on you, but that’s part of the game. I’m always training hard to dominate and smash my opponents so all I have to do is to get the job done.

—You drew No. 1, what did you choose slot A

Letter “A” and number “1” always come together, they’re the best. The moment you draw “1” you’ve got to choose slot “A”.

—Nobody picked you as an opponent

I don’t look at it that way. They all had their strategies, and ideas and made the most logical choice. For example I think the Czech dude (Jiri Prochazka) made a wise choice by picking the hometown fighter (Ishii). Since Ishii gets lots of attention, now he will too. That was a great choice. All I have to do is what I always do is so I’m not that worried.

—What kind of training are you doing right now

I lift, spar, wrestle, grapple, and work on all aspects of the game. You never know what’s going to happen so I try stay in shape at all times. This will be a heavy weight tournament but I’m not going to force myself in gaining weight, and will focus more on my conditioning.

—Explain what kind of organization Bellator is

Bellator is an American MMA organization that puts on big shows, big fights to entertain the fans. Kind of like a cousin of RIZIN.

—What are your impressions on Japanese MMA

I love Japanese MMA. There’s lots of action and lots of finishes. Hopefully I don’t get one, but there are yellow cards that push the fighters to be more exciting. It prevents the fights from stalling and the fights become more active. And the fans, they’re awesome. The world is waiting for Japanese MMA for its comeback and they are going to get it.

—What kind of fight are you going to show us

You’ll get KING MO. Big takedowns, big slams, big ground and pound. The most important thing is to win, but I will win in an exciting way.
