Thompson was inspired by Don Frye and began his professional career. He made his pro debut in 2003 and with an impressive 6-1 record, he entered the ring of PRIDE the very next year. He immediately became a fan favorite for his intense looks and his “Gong & Dash” type fight style. He fought his icon Don Frye in 2007 on PRIDE 34 and won in a spectacular fashion. He moves on in competing in several promotions throughout the world, and now finds Bellator as his home. “The Colossus” will once again fight in Japan in 5 years, coming to crush the hope of Japanese legend, Tsuyoshi Kosaka who will be coming out of retirement after 9 years.
