“A soccer ball kick like explosion!?” An interview with Hiroyuki Takaya

—On the eve of your fight, how has your preparation been?
It’s been really good. I just need to make weight and I’m good to go. It’s time to fight.
—Could you give us your thoughts on your opponent, DJ Taiki?
The way I am going to fight will be the same as I fight every time. Trust me when I say that.
—What was the reaction around you like after the fight was announced?
Everybody was excited because it’s the first time in a while that I have participated in a big event.
—You’ve been fighting under different rules lately, what do you think about the rules being different this time around?
I have to be careful about not using my elbows. Luckily we are able to use knees from the 4 point position as well as the soccer ball kick, so I am looking forward to using them as well as a few other tricks that I have up my sleeve. I’ve never used the soccer ball kick before so I want to try that.
—Do you think this fight can help you springboard into 2016?
All I am thinking about is winning this fight. I take each fight as they come. This is something we can all get behind.
—And your last thoughts on the match itself?
I want to knock him out, just like I always do. To the fans, I say to you, trust me that I will knock him out and I look forward to your support on the day.
