“My ground game plan is perfect”. An interview with Yuta Uchida.

—On the eve of the fight, how do you feel?
I am really excited, but also a little uneasy. I’ve never felt this way before. My preparation for this fight has been really good, and all I can do now is go out there and do my very best to win.
—What are your thoughts on your opponent?
I did have a look at some of his fights on tape. There really isn’t a whole lot I can say here as this is my first MMA fight and I’m not worrying about the finer details too much.
—Are you going to fight like a Karateka?
Yes. My seniors in the dojo told me that’s the best thing to do, as I am a Karateka. I have been training in both MMA and Karate though so I think I’ll be fine.
—What kind of fight do you want to fight?
My opponent is a grappler, who focuses on his ground game. Our styles are very contrasting, so I think we’ll both stick to our strengths. I have to be able to deal with my weaknesses, and I think that will be the key to victory.
—Are you confident in your ground game?
My ground game plan is perfect. Who knows, I may be aiming for that kind of fight! (LOL)
